I grew up on a farm in Freehold, NJ and eventually became the farm manager until the property was sold. Farming remains a big part of my life. I learned to drive a truck while working on the farm and became an over the road trucker hauling bulk chemicals around the country.
I gave up driving to be close to home and went back to school to earn a computer science degree. I taught myself how to build websites in the mid-90s and became a software developer within a few years. Building websites will never get old for me.
I started gardening using the skills I learned from farming. I began experimenting with different techniques both conventional and unconventional and have learned how to maximize my yields. Out of boredom, I started growing flowers and now specialize in growing hanging baskets and potted plants I sell for side money.
I get a lot of enjoyment from mechanical projects and love to weld and solder pipes. I recently replaced all the plumbing in my home and often feel I missed the boat regarding a career as a plumber. I have built some of the furniture in my home and can build anything out of wood, metal, or plastic.
When I need to get away, I like to take off in my travel trailer and camp in area campgrounds where I enjoy fishing and mountain biking.
